Star Trek: Rapture - jefferies-tubes-junction

In the junction a team of two, a wingless Aurelian and a Gorn were preparing to work in the tubes. They shared playful banter and engineering ideas as they entered the tubes. And oh? They were armed.

Lisa ended up in here. She waited for her team to join her so she could meet with all of them to discuss plans.

[D] As part of the bridge strike team, T'kara followed behind Lisa closely so as not to get separated. Stopping behind her superior, she craned her neck to get a better look ahead. "Anyone ahead?" she whispered to the Lieutenant.

[D]Mishkanaa made her way into the junction, trying her best to be very stealthy and all that. This was not her area of expertise, but she would do her best in order to keep up with those who knew what they were doing.

“No. Keep your guard up, everyone. But for now, keep going. We have five more decks to climb, then a straight shot to the Bridge.” She was first to grab a rung of the ladder, and she started climbing once more. She thanked herself for doing rock climbing back in her day.

T'kara of course being the next. Not a lot of room to maneuver after all. At least she was getting some of that well-needed exercise she'd always been meaning to. She shook her head to get herself back in the moment, and went over the combat maneuvers she had been trained in.

Mishkanaa followed the others, biting her lip as she went over some of the self defense training that she had been put through. She felt more than a little outclassed by the others there, but she knew that she would have her time to shine.

Silently, she made her way to the hatch that would lead to the bridge. She looked for a way she could see inside and take stock of the situation without being notice, phaser at the ready all the same. She signaled for the others to also have their phasers ready.

Mishkanaa nodded and readied her own phaser, happy to find that her hands were not shaking despite the tense situation.

T'kara had practically already drawn her phaser when Lisa gave the order. She also palmed a stun grenade in her other hand. "I intend for this grenade to enter the room before us," she whispered to the others, "it would be wise to not rush in until after it detonates." (edited)

“Perfect. I’ll move so you can do that.” She whispered. She got out of the way as best she could in the tight space, allowing T’kara to get to the front.

T'kara passed Lisa in the narrowness of the Jefferies Tube, managing no more than a light brush of their clothes. She analyzed the hatch to see if there were any gaps that would be safe to peer through. "If anyone packed a scanner, now would be a good time to scan for life signs and their whereabouts." She made sure to whisper extra carefully, with her head turned away from the hatch. After all, what if there was someone standing right in front of it?

Ressa nodded. She took out her tricorder and wormed her way as close to the front as she could get. Then she attempted to scan the area for life signs.

As previously reported, there were six life signs on the bridge. And two guards on either side of the bridge doors.

“Six guards on the Bridge, two guards on either side of the doors. You think we can find a way to take them out while staying in the tubes? Any vent panel we could take out and aim through?” She asked. She kept her tricorder out, but she also had her hypos. And, worst case scenario, a small laser cutter.

There was indeed so, it lead right up through the floor of the bridge. Only downside though.. it was right in the center of the bridge. Behind the Captain’s chair.

“According to the schematics, there’s a panel above us. Downside- it’s in the middle of the Bridge. We would instantly be spotted. So, we’d have to go in guns blazing, and they’d have the upper hand. But, if we could catch someone walking over the panel, we could shoot them quickly and use the momentary chaos to take everyone else out. Then we can maybe barricade the Bridge doors and stay there until the Engineering team can cut power.” She said to her team. It was a good strategy to her, and maybe it would work.

"Indeed we might," T'kara whispered. "I think i can program the stun grenade to detonate in midair. I'll throw it after we stun the first guard, that way everyone's looking so that the flash will get them even if the stun wave doesn't." She began fiddling with the grenade as the team laid in wait beneath the floor.

“Okay. Do that, then we’ll wait. It shouldn’t be long.” She said. She had her own phaser in her hands, she was right up against the panel too. She gesture for T’Kara to get close to the panel for optimal grenade throwing.

Mishkanaa stayed back, thinking about how she could use her own skills to help with this situation. After all, she was not good at fighting hand to hand. Though... she was fast. And her reflexes were good, maybe she could do something after the stun grenade was fired! "After the stun grenade... do you want me to try and mess with one of the consoles? Maybe turn out the power or something..."

“That’s a good idea. If there’s anything you can do to assist the Engineering team or get in touch with them, do it. Also, we may want to see if there are any Starfleet personnel on this ship. There might be maintenance crews or other people who could be in danger.” She told the Helmsman. She stayed by the panel, waiting to hear footsteps close enough to open the panel and fire.

Mishkanaa nodded, it all made sense to her after all, and she was quick to get into position, readying herself to move at a moment's notice. "I will probably only be able to effect the bridge with my plan... but it should cause more confusion for us to capitalise on! Oh... on a second note... how do we find Starfleet personnel on the ship? I doubt these people keep logs..."

“Maybe one of these people on the Bridge knows something. I could maybe threaten one into telling us? I know it’s a little un-Starfleet, but if it saves lives…” Ressa, back at it again with the violence. She truly did have an ace up her sleeve with her laser cutter. Not that she’d cut a PERSON, but she could give someone a good scare.

"Threatening will not be necessary." By this point in her career, T'kara had picked up a few more sophisticated interrogation techniques, though she hadn't had as much time to practice them as a Security officer might. "Perhaps we should keep the chatter down, lest our first target become aware of us."

The helmsman nodded, quieting down again so they could get to work. Really she was just waiting for a signal, ready to put her skills to the test.

The insulation made it difficult to hear whether or not there would be movement in the area. The grenade throw would likely be a flop, but there was a great chance that it would work.

“Alright, new plan. I open the panel and shoot whoever I see, you throw the grenade when they’re distracted.” She sat poised by the panel, phaser in hand, waiting for T’Kara’s reply. She was ready to take the Bridge and secure the Mercury.

[Comms] "Rai here, we need to overload the system to keep the ship from going to warp. Hold onto something."

Lisa grabbed onto a handle on the wall and held it. She stayed as silent as humanly possible.

T'kara was about to answer when Rai commed them. She proceeded to simply sit on the floor of the tube and brace her arms onto the floor.

Ressa wedged herself into a corner, braced her arms on the floor, and prayed to every god in the galaxy to not die.

Mishkanaa grabbed onto another handle on the wall, bracing herself by changing up her stance a little. She had put more weight on her back foot, turning it to the side ever so slightly.

[Comms] "They're flooding the tubes with Veridium Six, GET OUT OF THERE NOW!"

The only way up was through the escape route on the bridge. They would have to make themselves known whether they liked it or not. The only other way out was down and, the next hatch was a 40 minute climb away.

T'kara wasted no time popping the hatch open and firing a stun beam at the nearest pirate, then tossing the grenade into the air. Even though she didn't wait for the order, it was still basically what their plan was anyway, right? Not to mention Rai ranking higher than Lisa, not that T'kara was thinking of that at the moment.

The stun grenade exploded, and the pirates were stunned, but it seems the crew had underestimated the sensitivity of the consoles on the bridge, seeing as how this vessel lacked the EM shielding that would normally prevent such a thing from happening. Prototype! The shockwave caused the helm to malfunction and fire the starboard thrusters, sending the ship into a violent barrel roll for about a minute. The away team was now gifted with an opportunity, if they could survive the motion sickness.

Lisa sprang into action, holding onto a handle with one hand and firing her phaser through the hatch at another pirate.

Mishkanaa was quick to act after that, steadying herself with a quick shift of her weight before she jumped up through the hatch.

For a moment, T'kara just gets pinned to the wall and spun like clothes in a washing machine. Oh surak why was the ship not em shielded, she's gonna be sick!

Ressa, phaserless but still very much wanting to do some damage, stuck by Lisa. She wanted cover so she could run and hypo some people.
